The 7 Ages of Childhood
Parents often ask us when they should have their children photographed professionally.
There are seven significant growth milestones in every child's life when the occurence of subtle physical changes take place inching them ever so closer to adulthood.
Portraits, which capture forever special moments in our lives, taken at these particular times in our children's lives can serve to tell their stories. They become a significant part of the heritage of both the child and his/her family.
Professional portrait artists are quite capable of capturing the spirit and vitality of children at these special moments in their lives. You, as a loving parent, will never regret having preserved these moments forever.
The 7 Ages of Childhood are:
- At 6 months your baby is cuddly, alert, responsive, and still completely dependent on the family.
At One Year your child is still a baby, but quickly growing and beginning to take on permanent facial characteristics that reveal his/her character and family likeness.
At age Two your child has begun to speak, think, reason, and explore almost everything.
Age Four is my favorite age to create portraits of kids. They're cute and independent with their own unique personalities and interests.
At age Seven the permanent teeth are coming in nicely and the face starts to take on a more mature look.
- Age Twelve marks the end of childhood and the emergence into the teen years. The child that you have loved for what seems to be such a short time is about to embark on a new and exciting chapter in his/her life. For many parents this represents the last chance at capturing some essence of the little kid.
- At Sixteen years of age the girl blossoms into womanhood and the boy is nearly a man. They mature differently, but each anticipates the challenges that await them in the future. They're still growing, but they are never to be children again.
